Itinerary

The tour departs at 9:30am, 12:30pm or 6:30pm – we recommend the morning or evening tour for better lighting and cooler weather.

After a short transfer from your hotel, select your bike, pop on a helmet, and stretch your legs for a leisurely cycle around Thailand’s most famous historical site.  Ayutthaya, the Kingdom of Siam, has always been at the forefront of Thai culture.  Situated on an island formed at the confluence of three rivers, the city is a point of pride amongst Thais, and is often featured in movies, musicals, and traditional performances.

Cycle along the tree-lined lanes criss-crossing the historical site and stopping at the complexes’ most famous sites.  Covering around 10km, the slow pace ensures you absorb Ayutthaya’s tranquil ambiance.

Day Visits

  • Wat Phra Si Sanphet and the Ancient Palace – Ayutthaya’s largest and holiest temple, but, having been restored, lacks some of romance of the other temples.
  • Wat Lokayasutharam – A grand, reclining Buddha takes centre stage at this temple built in the middle Ayutthaya period.
  • Wat Na Phra Main – an active temple, it offers a good contrast to the historic temples located in the ancient complex.
  • Wat Mahathat – perhaps Ayutthaya’s most photogenic temple because of the Buddha image encircled by a Banyan tree’s roots.

Night Visits

  • Sri Suriyothai Memorial Stupa – Set along a lovely stretch of the river, the restored stupa is said to hold the ashes of Queen Suriyothai
  • Wat Chai Wathanaram – Considered one of Ayutthaya’s temples, its Khmer architecture mirrors Angkor in Siem Reap.
  • Wat Phra Si Sanphet and the Ancient Palace – Ayutthaya’s largest and holiest temple, but, having been restored, lacks some of romance of the other temples.
  • Wat Rajaburana – perhaps the area’s most interesting history, this wat is set on the cremation grounds of two brothers who killed each other in their pursuit to succeed their father Intharacha, King of Ayutthaya
  • Wat Mahathat  – perhaps Ayutthaya’s most photogenic temple because of the Buddha image encircled by a Banyan tree’s roots.

Depart after the tour to return to your hotel.
